Art and Sport as Catalysts for Social Inclusion

OBESSU,together with its partners,wants to analyse in which way sport,art and creativity both within and outside schools can contribute to better intercultural dialogue and social inclusion,overcoming differences,promoting acceptance of diversity and fostering equality among young people.The conference“Art and Sport as Catalysts for Social Inclusion”explores different paths to achieve social inclusion while promoting sport and art activities and fostering young people’s creativity.Participants develop methods and strategies to promote sport, art and creativity both within and outside the walls of formal education,enhancing the positive development of young people and society.The event will take place in Copenhagen on14-19May2012 and will gather around 50 participants from more than20countries.Through different methods alternating working groups,plenary sessions and interactive workshops,participants will reflect on the role and value of sport,art and creativity,explore ways how to improve the function of catalyst for social inclusion,identify the role of youth organisations and young people and develop methods and strategies to implement.European policies and initiatives for the promotion of art and sport will be addressed and the event will, moreover,be a space to share best practice examples,as well as for creating synergies among youth organisations. Apart from panel debates with international guests,the event will mainly rely on non-formal education methods to foster the active involvement of participants.
