The „Landesberufsschule für das Hotel- und Gaststättengewerbe“ as a regional Vocational School that specializes in imparting hospitality industry-specific training as well as technical and academic education is constantly concerned to extend its structures into a broader international framework. Within this context we must focus on the Hotel Trade students who acquire an Additional Hotel Management Qualification including three languages (“Hotelfachleute mit Zusatzqualifikation Hotelmanagement”). Our educational institution would like to offer these students the opportunity to display and develop their professional skills in Spain. Together with our projects in other countries like France and Italy, that experience will provide this special course with the European dimension and significance claimed by the international hospitality industry. This necessarily means raising the students’ consciousness of their own role in Europe. In regard to this European idea it is therefore vital that, by looking beyond their own horizons, the students are able to compare the German Vocational Training Education with other educational and training systems and regard it as a special opportunity for career advancement in the international hospitality industry. Thanks to the practical training in Spain, the Mobility project enables the students to strengthen and broaden their social and intercultural competences and language skills. It allows the students to build up tandems; also a work placement network for the exchange between student trainees and host companies can be created in order to further the establishment of personal and professional relationships, the career prospects for the students and a greater transparency in the hospitality industry.Sixteen students travel to Spain. They have already obtained the “Abitur” (British A Level) an do now the course "Hotelfachleute mit Zusatzqualifikation Hotelmanegement". The stay abroad lasts 3 weeks. During the first week the students must attend the academic and technical training classes at the Spanish vocational school "CIPFP Camino de Santiago" in "La Rioja" and also take part in extracurricular training activities. After this period they undergo an internship in the previously selected Spanish hotels for two weeks. During the stay abroad as well as during the previous preparation period the Mobility project focuses not only on the school training and the internship but also on the comparison between the Spanish and German Vocational Training Education Sytems and on the working conditions in both cases. All students at the hotel trade course "Hotelfachleute mit Zusatzqualifikation Hotelmanegement" along with the students who travel to Spain are actively involved in the project and are responsible for its implementation and developement . The relationship between both vocational schools started during the summer of 2014. Every subject (duration, accommodation, extracurricular activities, project topic) has been talked over and a common evaluation process as well as a plan for future relationships have been set up.To sum up, it can be said that as a result of these relationships the vocational training education in both countries can be reflected on and is enabled to acquire higher levels of efficiency and quality and gain international significance. Furthermore, this Mobility project jump starts an international high-level vocational education for our youth.
