Appropriate provisions for students with behaviora..
Appropriate provisions for students with behavioral problems and psychiatrical disorders
The project APPRO (Appropriate Provisions for students with behavioral problems and psychiatric disorders) is a project with partners from Turkey, Germany, Lithuania, Latvia, Cyprus and the Netherlands. The joint aim is for yound people with behavioral and psychiatric disorders to prepare, to lead and guide these students to appropriate, sustainable and meaningful work. This goal is realized based on a common educational vision. The key concept in this project is TRANSITION. The change process towards maturity is achieved through the development of Inclusive Education and a Work School as a concept. The project focuses on development projects that specifically reflect the needs of the target group. We do so through education, training, product development and mutual visits. Given the composition of the consortium partners we see a potential to investigate the integration of young immigrants and the extent to which they are dependent on Special Education. The research question is: Is the employment problem cultural / social, educational or psychological determined? The main goal is to reach a comprehensive educational package suitable for future social integration through employment, vocational education or daytime activities. The quality of the consortium (a school for special education aiming at obtaining work, vocational secondary schools, an educational support service, a technology and training center, a centre of educational research) ensures the implementation of the project. The objective is based on the activities described in the work packages to develop an appropriate perspective to meaningful and sustainable work of the target population in the different countries. We will realize the work packages with the ultimate goal to strengthen the position of the target group in the labour market, with tangible and sometimes less tangible outcomes. The Manual and the Website have an impact on thinking about the position of the target group, at regional, national and European level. The developed products available in the project are:* To match with the local and regional needs a Transition Plan will be developed, in consideration of the development perspective of the student. The transition plan focuses on outflow to further education or paid work.* Programs for education and training of teachers, managers and consultants in time at local level and eventually at a regional level knowledge and skills will be spread.* An Assessment Tool to screen the qualities of the students.* A Manual as a result.* A Website on which all the experiences and results of the project are available.* An International Final Conference.* Meetings during the project where the participating countries exchange experiences and research findings.* A methodology of Transition as educational concept. The project is completed with two other themes: Inclusive Education and the supervision of Turkish students and students with disabilities.
