Apprentissage de Compétences Transversales Internationales Visant l' Employabilité
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our project is named : ACTIVE which stands for Learning International Cross-Disciplinary Skills in order to enhance hiring potential This project is aimed at 15 students who belong to the European Section BTEC National Management and Administration of the Vocational High School Etienne Jules Marey located in Boulogne Billancourt. This project consists in giving these youngsters the opportunity to complete a four-week work placement abroad in Malta in November and December 2015. This group comprises 11 girls and 4 boys who have sometimes not chosen their current studies, due to schooling difficulties in primary or secondary school. They are remotivated by their team of teachers and some of them want to continue their studies with a HND in block release training for instance. Fully aware that the required academic level in English is quite high in further education, they voluntarily joined the European Section and have 4 extra weekly English classes on top of their mandatory courses in their second and final year. This four-week work placement is part of the 22 mandatory work placement weeks which the students have to complete during their 3-year training. This work placement will be assessed by their tutor just the same as if it took place in France . An assessment grid in English will be provided to the tutor, enabling to assess the student’s professional skills. Moreover, the tutor will also assess the student’s Business English level , thanks to a grid certifying the student’s level in accordance with the Common European Framework of References for Languages. At the end of their final year, the students will take 2 English oral examinations : one which is specific to the experience abroad and another one which is mandatory and common to all BTEC NATIONAL final tests. The students will also take an oral examination in French assessing a professional report which may be in relation to the tasks completed during their work placement abroad. On top of the expected success to the BTEC NATIONAL tests and the awarding of the European mention on our students’diploma this project has the objectives described below: - Favouring European recognition of our students’ work experience with the presentation of certificates such as Europass and Youthpass - Favouring acquisition and /or strengthening of personal skills such as : self-reliance, self-esteem, self -confidence, adaptability, sense of responsibility, open mindedness , solidarity, curiosity, general knowledge This project is part of the lifelong learning programme and is a first step which will enable our students to evolve autonomously in the job market , develop in their work and adapt to change during their career.
