Apprentice Exchange 2016
Start date: Jul 10, 2016, End date: Jul 9, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

BAE Systems, Airbus Defence & Space and MTU will be working together to give 12 second year Engineering and Business Advanced Apprentices first hand experience and greater knowledge of the manufacturing and testing techniques used by the European Aerospace industry. Whilst developing and improving their language, communication and social skills, the participants will obtain a greater level of independence and knowledge of different EU cultures. The objectives would be to observe and work using different manufacturing methods and equipment used by the partner companies that the apprentices would not normally have the opportunity to use in the UK. To see similar components and aircraft manufactured in a different way whilst gaining the opportunity to work on larger aircraft that is no longer available to them in the UK. This project will help to provide evidence towards their NVQ L3 learning programmes by giving them the opportunities to deal with international customers and suppliers giving them an opportunity to learn about the companies work ethics , this would normally be extremely difficult for our young people to achieve. This will help the participants move through the apprenticeship programme quicker while also freeing up placement opportunities for others. This project will be a three week reciprocal exchange and would take place during the academic holidays between June and July 2015. The project will be managed by using initiation, planning and design, execution and construction, monitoring, controlling systems and completion. The long term benefits of this project will enable European and Worldwide mobility of staff at BAE Systems and their partner organisations, it will also help to encourage further collaborative working of the companies in the future.
