The Anna-Warburg-School is a vocational school for social pedagogy with three different vocational courses of education: the vocational grammar school, school for pre-school teachers and school for pre-school teacher assistants. The vocational grammar school educates its students in English language on a higher level. Also French and Spanish are taught as foreign languages so that our students can achieve their A-levels. In the upper classes the preparation for the final examination comprises ever changing subjects in English which is always a challenge for teachers and students. The aim of our school is to offer highly qualified lessons in all three relevant languages and to arouse student’s interest in languages, cross-cultural experiences and the European idea.Similar objectives apply for our two other vocational courses of education (school for pre-school teachers and school for pre-school teacher assistants). Students of those schools study English as a foreign language during their education course without a compulsory final examination, however, they will experience a requirement of a good knowledge in English during their later professional career and they will be faced with the necessity of intercultural competence. Our basic objective is to offer our students European experiences and the possibility to take part in a work placement abroad. Our school is the only vocational school in Hamburg which provides such prospects for pre-school teacher assistants. For some of our students, it is the first chance to gain experiences in a foreign country and we want to extend, initiate and accompany this process. Our teachers are multipliers and mediators of motivation and enthusiasm which leads to medium- and long-term success. Seven of our colleagues intend to participate in a 2-week-training course in different European countries. These colleagues are either teachers of English, French and Spanish or teachers responsible for the Euro-team, who organize and carry out mobility projects. The ambitions of the teachers are to reach the above mentioned aims by being: - role models in foreign languages- reference persons for European partner organizations and - multipliers for enthusiasm as well as pleasure in intercultural European interactionOur school thinks that a participation in the Erasmus+ programme is an important contribution for a successful improvement in the development of our school in general but also in classes as well as in the education of our staff.
