The project arises from the need to settle the preservation of the biodiversity of animals, their habitats and a sustainable agricultural production in the regions where cured meat typical products are an important tradition. QUBIC will go through all the organisational and technical aspects of the production and distribution chain, taking advantage of the existing differences in term of competences and experiences which characterise the partners. The project aims at collecting and arranging norms and experiences to establish a transfer mechanism for knowledge and expertise. The aim will be achieved by involving the institutions in charge of and interested in the projects topic, all around the MED area and organising seminars and networking meetings Achievements: State of the art of project implementation since the project start-kick off meeting and the following arrangement of the administrative actions to the project -organization and participation at the 6 PSC meetings in Valencia Thessaloniki Florence Corte Nebrodi and Valence and participation of the Partners to technicalLatest project activities and outputsThe activities developed during this period are: - management of the project and participation to the 7th PSC at Drome (France). - implementation of the activities of component 4: seminars focused on bilateral meeting with SMEs, training in seasoning technics, testing of black pig products - participation to the training event in Sicily and the Final Conference in Palermo. - Promotion of the project and its achievements with press conferences, interviews in radio and TV stations, articles in National and regional newspapers, distribution of printed materials and Project Videos -activity to create a specific packaging to use for local breeds pig products -redaction and printing of the final publication with the project results -Website update with relevant information and QUBIC resultsNext key steps for the projectThe project ended its planned activities. Some partners, as INA CERTH, started a process to revitalize a local black pig breed almost disappeared in Greece and with Qubic project produced the first seasoned products. INA will support the networking of the identified stakeholders and a follow up will be done in order to continue the conservation of the Greek Black Pig. Also LP through the management of the Centre in Galati will guarantee a follow up and a support to SMEs involved.
