For this reason, it has established development strategy that focuses on improving productivity and competitiveness.
The AGRICULTURAL COOPERATIVE ZAGORAS PILIOU is currently the largest operator of commercial activity and development in the region of East Pelion and one of the most dynamic primary cooperatives in Greece. The Association collects and distributes all kinds of agricultural products produced in the region, like other varieties of apples (golden, renedes, fyrikia), pears, kiwi, chestnuts, olives, cherries, etc., all of exceptional quality. New packaging products with distinctive mark were designed, apples carry a sticker of the logo and the means of transport have the new corporate identity.
Today, the Agricultural Cooperative of Zagora collects, maintains, packs and distributes almost 100% of the apple production in the area (10 thousand to 15 thousand tons per year), as well as other products, and is one of the most important economic units of Magnesia. The "Zagorin” is the first agricultural cooperative in Europe that has acquired PDO Apples in 1996 for starkin and 2011 for firikia of Pelion.
