The project is intended to strengthen and promote the aquaculture sector through use of new information/communication technologies and e-business. There are three steps to the project: ·Establish a research centre on IT use in the aquaculture sector. ·Establish a training and information scheme for small and medium enterprises in the sector. ·Perform feasibility studies on implementing an e-commerce strategy in identified businesses. The project is intended to address previously identified problems: ·Commercialisation ·Market expansion on the international level ·Management and difficulties experienced by entrepreneurs in this field ·Environmental impact of company activities ·Management rules for coastal zones The main project objective is maintenance of the competitiveness, productivity, and long-term health of the aquaculture sector through development and use of IT and e-commerce in a spirit of transnational cooperation.
