Sixteen young people from Germany and Estonia aged 13 to 18 years old meet for a week in Cologne to deal with the topic"all children have rights".Participants from two European countries will be doing research on children's rights (children's right to play, freetime and recreation - article 31 / Convention on the Rights of the Child and children's right to equal opportunities for all children - article 2 + 4 / Convention on the Rights of the Child) by research, interviews and the use of various media. Effective approach of these bilateral meeting is that young people do research on site because of their knowledge and experience, search for and contact the organization and institution that are working for children's rights worldwide. The project is implemented by two project partners from Germany and Estonia, where the young people are the main actors.During the project, they first examine the implementation of children's right to play, freetime and recreation and on the other hand the right to equal opportunities for all children in their countries. The focus is on the investigation, how the right of children is achieved or offended and if all children have equal opportunities. As a consequence the participants should find out out which children are most affected by these problems, if this issue is comprehensively presented in the media and how social organizations and parents are involved in this area. Foundation of the project are the articles 2/4/31 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child retained rights to play, recreation and freetime and equal opportunities for all children.Main objectives of the project are the awareness of the general and one's own situation and opportunities with respect to the right to play, freetime and recreation and the right to equal opportunities for all children moreover the strengthening of intercultural and social skills and thus promoting the integration of young people into society.In the preparatory phase of the project, the young people examine in research groups, the actual situation of the implementation of children's rights to play, freetime, recreation and equal opportunities for all children in their own country (research on the internet, libraries, interviews with experts from relevant organizations, if necessary also with affected people). These investigations will be documented by the youths themselves in photos with comments. The youths then come online together in order to exchange their collected results.In the encounter phase the young people bring the results from their countries and create a joint photo exhibition along with appropriate comments. The photo exhibition will be held in a community center and a city shopping promenade , which should arouse great interest among the public. Young people from Germany and Estonia present the photos, comment on them and respond to emerging issues.In the evaluation phase the young people come into online contact again and exchange ideas about the overall progress and possible follow-up activites.
