Agricultural learning opportunities in Italy

This project is result of the contact with the Italian partner made during implementation of Vetpro mobility project " Agricultural education and experience in Italy ", in which 15 teachers from our school visited partner school I.S.I. Duca degli Abruzzi . During the meeting with the director of the school and leader of school companie they introduce our teachers with the educational curriculum and new methods of teaching and learning especially in practical teaching. Director of the School presented the novelties in curricular teaching which they apply and which is based on learning outcomes as required by the needs of the Italian labor market. This has imposed the idea of further cooperation to enhance innovative educational system, primarily through the mobility of students. Through this project, we would like to enhance the professional competence of 15 students who are being educated for jobs agrotechnician, agricultural technician gardener and agricultural technician fitofarmaceut, ensuring them professional practice in Italy for a period of 14 days. The main objective of the project is to increase professional knowledge and skills of mobility participants in order to be competitive in the European labor market, and to prepare them for lifelong learning and professional development. Preparations before the mobility will include cultural and linguistic preparation to ensure better monitoring of mobility programmes.
Mobility will be implemented in April 2015., and the exact mobility programme will be adjusted to the profiles of selected participants in consultation with the host partner I.S.I. Duca degli Abruzzi. The programme of professional training will include: introduction to the regulations regarding the protection of health and safety at work, obligations of students and mentors, introduction with the preparation of the working processes and modern techniques and tools related to each individual profession.
- Agrotechnicians will increase their professional knowledge and skills in the area of herbal production and animal area. They will become familiar with the application of modern techniques of propagation of plant species, they will learn how to organize proper care of plants in protected areas, nurture cultivation of traditional varieties of grains and vegetables. In the animal area they will become acquainted with the ways of growing domestic breeds of domestic animals - padua chickens, cows.
- Agricultural technicians gardeners will learn different ways of growing traditional flowers at the open space of the city of Padua areas - cooperation between schools and the Municipality of Padua - Department for maintenance of urban greenery, cultivation techniques dendrologic species in the school garden.
- Agricultural technicians fitofarmaceuti will learn to apply contemporary measures for protection of agricultural crops in the open spaces, the application of modern measures to protect vegetable crops in open and protected areas, the use of biological insecticides in fruit trees.
Beside practical training, for students will be organized cultural activities that will consist of a tour of the city of Padua and getting acquainted with the cultural and traditional heritage and customs of the local population.
Through project it will be established a better, broader and more thorough cooperation between the two partners in the field of vocational education in agricultural occupations, lifelong learning and active linking the agricultural sector and the labor market.
Expected results of the mobility:
- increased professional knowledge and skills of 15 students
- acquired knowledge of new techniques, tools and new technologies in the field of agrotechnicians, agricultural technicians gardeners and agricultural technicians fitofarmaceuti
- 15 students with working experience in Italy that will transfer experience to mentors in School with the aim of development of apprenticeship training
- 2 teachers with gained knowledge about organization of apprenticeship training in Italy
- 17 participants with improved knowledge of Italian language (basic conversation)
- students introduced with lifelong learning possibilities and encouraged on further participation
- strengthened partnership between Agricultural School and host school I.S.I. Duca degli Abruzzi
