The Project Advanced Seminar in EU Criminal Law and Policy is designed with an aim to enhance acquiring and exchanging knowledge in the field of EU criminal law and policy and to contribute to a deeper understanding of the EU criminal justice system and policy making in criminal matters, primarily within the academic community of the EU and candidate countries. Additional objective of the Project is to contribute to a further development of a coherent and integrated curriculum at graduate level, facilitate academic networking and contribute to life-long learning in the field of EU criminal law and policy in South-East Europe. While teaching a Jean Monnet course EU substantive criminal law and protection of victims at the Faculty of Law, Univ. of Zagreb, the need to have an intensive highly specialized seminar that brings together experts in the field of the EU criminal law and policy was detected. Creating a more dynamic and committed professional environment among lecturers of EU criminal law throughout Croatia and South-East Europe is among main rationales of the project proposal. The one week seminar aims to serve as a cluster for discussing newest developments of EU criminal law and policy, not only among academic staff but also between academics and policy makers and practitioners in the field of EU criminal law. Therefore, this intensive course aims to serve as a lifelong learning tool to all graduate and postgraduate researchers (young researchers), practitioners and academics involved in EU criminal law matters and provide stakeholders with knowledge and networking possibilities that serve their professional and career development. The main activity of the Project is organising a highly specialized, intensive, one week seminar at the InterUnivesity Center in Dubrovnik dealing with the framework of EU criminal law and policy pursuant to articles 82 and 83 of TFEU and in accordance with the Action plan of the European Commission.
