Activity Management at our International Space
Start date: Aug 24, 2015, End date: Jul 23, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

We are a vocational institute, part of the social science university in Grenoble. We have a lot of international activities and many links with companies. We know the value of both formal and non-formal education. Now we have taken it a step further and started taking part ourselves in Key Action 1 of the ERASMUS + Programme. We would like to contribute to the development of a youngster from another European country by providing him/ her with tasks suited to his/ her ability. We would like to help this youngster become an active European citizen by putting him/ her in contact with a new country and a new culture. Conversely, we would like our students to be in contact with a foreign youth. Many of our students have fewer opportunities. They have never been abroad and may feel nervous about this idea. Also, our students know very little about other European member states. Being in contact with a European volunteer able to share his/ her experience would have a great impact on our students. It would greatly develop their awareness and desire to travel. The volunteer will be based in our International Space, a place dedicated to languages, travelling and foreign cultures. This place is a pleasant place where young people can find out about other languages and cultures. We think a European Volunteer would be perfect to create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and would turn it into a place managed by a young person for other young people. He/she would really make the center a meeting place to speak European languages, start preparing trips abroad and take part in various language, cultural and artistic activities. With this project we hope to turn a traditional language center, which no longer brings much value to the institution or its users, into a lively place, a meeting point, a starting point for various forms of travel. Underlying this is a desire to turn our institute into a place with even more activity outside of traditional classrooms. We look forward to working with the Youthpass and using it also with our students. We are also going to introduce the volunteer (and possibly her sending organisation) to our own portfolio. This will be a learning process for all of us. The volunteer, teachers, staff and students will develop new skills, learn about each other, and bring formal and non-formal education a step closer.
