Project "ACTIVEate YOUrself"
Bilateral youth exchange between young participants from Bulgaria and Spain (age between 18 and 30 years).
Location: Sofia, Bulgaria
Duration of activities : 01/11/2014 - 08/11/2014 (7 days activities)
Participants: 20 participants, 10 per each country ( +2 leaders , one per each country)
Partner organizations : Foundation Korenyak ( Bulgaria ) and Municipality of Burgillos del Cerro (Spain)
Project Summary: This exchange has as a main topic and aim to stimulate active citizenship and promote European identity among young people by using methods of non-formal education and intercultural cooperation. The project is specifically targeted at young people with fewer opportunities , belonging to a remote rural area (participants from Burgillos del Cerro, Extremadura , Spain) . This l project represents a follow up-activity, aimed to upgrade the performance of a previous project (youth exchange), presented by the partner organizations in 2013 under the Youth in Action program and which is in its implementation phase now.
The focus of the corrent project is oriented to raising awareness of European citizenship and motivation of young people for active social participation; promoting intercultural dialogue, mutual understanding and tolerance among young people from different European countries and promoting international cooperation in the youth field.
The project offers a variety of activities and non-formal education methods such as presentations , debates , discussions , role plays, energizers , creative activities and outdoor activities, etc. . All of them are related to the promotion of active citizenship among youngsters, encouraging European awareness and intercultural dialogue and understanding.
The methodology of the project, selected through consensus between partner organizations and young participants, is based on learning process oriented to personal, social and professional development of all participants through "learning by doing" methods. In this regard , the activities planned under the project will be implemented through a variety of intercultural and non-formal education methods that not only allow, but also encourage active participation of all participants and development of skills for their future endeavors.
In the long term, the project will strengthen European Identity sense of young people and improve their attitudes towards active citizenship and social participation; will increase positive attitudes towards other cultures and promote tolerance and mutual understanding. Necessary conditions will be created to deepen the partnership between both organizations and to build sustainable cooperation in youth field at European level.
