Act now - Against Discrimination on the Basis of Sexual Orientation
Start date: Oct 1, 2008,

"Act now" within, its scope of activities advocates for human rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans-persons (LGBT) and campaigns for social inclusion of LGBT people in Slovenia. The project takes place in Ljubljana, Slovenia for the duration of 12 months and is open to all countries that can participate in the Youth in Action Programme. The project is in 2008 open for one volunteer. Within their work the volunteer will be provided with opportunities to improve their skills and competences ranging from organisational management to project management, communication, teamwork, intercultural learning and conflict management; all particulary relating to working in the field of working in an NGO on anti-discrimination and minority issues. The work will, through organisation and/or participation at various workshops, trainings, seminars and other types of activities, include experiences from local, national and international level, which will serve the volunteer to better understand daily reality of LGBT persons in Slovenia and Europe. Within their work the volunteer will learn how to provide safe space, disseminate relevant information and combat discrimination and inequality in the society at large as the experience, as unique as it will be, will show that when it comes to the topics of discrimination and inequality, not only Slovenia but all European countries have a lot of work ahead of them.
