Opening doors to training : This project aims to increase the employability, especially of school leavers, the unemployed and workers in SMEs, by providing easier access to training in the areas of business administration, ICT, the environment and communciations. Its key components are the evaluation of training needs and the design and implementation of training materials supported by the appropriate ICT tools to put them into practice. An ODL system with a training and support network ensures maximum accessibility. Learners participate in the course design and methodology by providing continuous feedback to the course providers. This programme of complementary training demonstrates a new form of co-operation between higher education institutions and SMEs. The work of the project will be publicised through practical guides, journals, the mass media, conferences and electronically via the Internet. This project started in 2000 and lasted 30 months.
