ACCESS TO COMMUNITY AND EMPLOYABILITY engagement'.
'A.C.E.' proposes a work placement and citizenship education project aiming to provide Learner Voice expression and leadership with Employability skills in project Preparation, Work Placement and Evaluation Dissemination. Vocational learners are selected from Hospitality, Catering, Tourism, Art, Child Care, I.T. Business and Sport, staff from a range of teaching and management levels from these vocations plus Beauty Care, Science,Technology and Support. Collaboration with partners of St Gabriel School Grupo Petanwen and public FE providers of Spain, Portugal, Netherlands and Germany engage in promoting employability skills via mobility for learners and staff on professional development. A.C.E. links employability and 'championing' to community and democratic awareness.
THE THEME OF ACCESS to vocational training, career preparation, practical working environments and cultural community is underpinned by the participants investigation into facilities and shared across the subjects.
FLOWS Over 2 years, project partners Seville and Algarve will host students within 2 flows. Dutch and German as well as southern partners will host staff over several small group or pair flows. The proven capacity of the Seville partner to extend its vocational employer links with the support of two local public sector further education colleges employer contacts offers a wide capacity. Learners for Seville and Algarve will be placed June 2015 and February 2016. Most staff placements will occur between December 2014 and February 2015 and spring 2016.
PRINCIPLE AIMS AND OUTCOMES
To meet vocational needs for knowledge, skills , social and linguistic confidence to reliably carry out tasks in an employer's working environment or colleges in response to the UK Government's Business, Innovation and Skills, BIS, 'New Challenges New Chances' agenda and the values of the European Union Life Long Learning Programme.
To increase participation of Barnet and Southgate College disadvantaged trainees with fewer opportunities for mobility work placements in order to meet personal development and social development needs and employer requirements.
To improve the quality of vocational learners acquisition of employability skills via work placement practice, mobility,
intercultural community and enterprising active citizenship awareness.
OVERALL OUTCOME is for increased participants to demonstrate and evidence the project's range of employability and mobility skills accredited to enhance .C.V., job prospects and progression to higher qualifications and enhance staff's knowledge of good European teaching and learning practice, industry links and innovative learning.
PARTICIPANTS
Students are selected from Level 2 and 3 NVQ and Vocational Diploma curriculum in Hospitality, Catering, Creative Media Business IT, Tourism, Child Care and Sport provision. Disadvantaged learners with fewer opportunities, linguistic, poverty or immigrant ethic backgrounds and circumstances creating obstacles to employability, mobility and achievement are included. Staff are from a similar range plus Science,Technology, Beauty Care, Learner Support Vocational Teaching, Management and Professional Development roles with potential for cascading.
LOCATIONS
Partnerships are focused on employer placements for learners in Seville, capital of Andalucia and Algarve Portugal, with staff in vocational colleges with industry access in Deltion College Netherlands, Heliopolis and Escuela de Arte Seville, Algarve and Germany.
As a capital of its province Seville is a dynamic city with a wide variety of hospitality,catering, business and tourism facilities plus sports placement facilities of the University of Sevilla used by our partner, St Gabriel School. Employers include the regions largest theme park, Parke Magico, which previously placed six of our vocational students within one flow. It has creative media studios , a Summer Camp and nurseries. The city has numerous quality restaurants and hotels, excellent local transport access and a publicly promoted policy of access for people with disabilities to enter cultural premises.
Algarve of Portugal excellent sports facilities and expertise meet our sports need for land and water based work activities, coaching, outdoor recreation, natural environment ecological and community based activities as well as organising of sports events on a regional and international basis.
Deltion College Zwolle, Netherlands is a large merged vocational training college to meet our staff placement needs. It has very good industry and employer links, wide curriculum and contributions to community activities plus mostly bilingual staff who speak English.
The region of Landshut has close access to the vast industry and training centres of Bavaria with Munich. Staff placements will include visits to Bosch, BMW, Pharmaceutical and a variety of vocational organisations.
