THE SEARCH of the ROLE of the STAFF WHO WORK in the EARLY DIAGNOSIS and TREATMENT in CHILD ABUSE and NEGLECT in EUROPEAN UNION COUNTRIES In the project there supposed to be 64 participants, 56 from the child development departments from Girls Vocational High Schools and 16 students from the school of nursing high schools as well as eight teachers who are experts in their own field. According to the Children Rights Treaty anybody under 18 is supposed to be a child. There are various kinds of child abuse and neglect such as sexual, sensational and physical, which lead to an impossibility of healing of the wound and which prevents the child to complete his/her psychological and mental development. Child abuse and neglect cause many problems in society when the child, his/her parents, social and civil foundations, legal systems and work fields are taken into considerations. Also, it is possibly one of the causes of the sickness and the deaths of children. In Turkey, the percentage in child abuse and neglect is 46% whereas it differs in the world between 1 and 10%. Child deaths which are reported by forensic medicine are caused by the neglect at 74%, physical abuse at 20%, and sexual abuse at 6-10 %. Turkey is the third country in the world in child abuse especially in sexual abuse. In 2010, it was reported that 18000 children was sexually abused. Denying, hiding and not reporting such events most of the time make the diagnosis impossible. In our country, cultural and traditional values, wrong information, the lack of evidence and not having enough experience and knowledge make it impossible to know better about child abuse. If the trauma is big, then child abuse is regarded to be the reason. Because of that, the staff who deal with children exposed to any sort of abuse has a dramatic role in identifying the risk groups, informing and preventing such cases, and educating the people and the individuals. There is no official foundation in our country except for the Ministry of State which is responsible for child abuse and neglect. As a result, the staff of health organizations, psychologists and nurses for kids obtain a great role in child abuse. During their training they should have extra classes on the subject. The proficiency of these people are related to the standard education they get at European level. With the project, we aim at learning the studies in the other countries and transforming them into our own workshops, preparing a background knowledge for the staff, gaining professionals in the field, promoting the physical, mental and psychological health of the children and provide the sustainability in the arena, practicing in a different country and culture, and learning the language as well as promoting the self-skills and self-confidence of all the participants. As well as the things mentioned above the project is supposed to promote the vocational skills of the participants and informing the Ministry of Education, Health and the Family and Social Policies about the developments. At the end of the study, the participants are going to be employed at different institutions. There are 21 days in the project. They are supposed to take part in Holland, Germany, Spain and Italy with 16 participants between March 8, 2015 and March 28, 2015 later with 64 participants in total. The project is going to last ten months beginning August 2014 and ending August 2015.
