The goal of the project is to harmonize the activities of implementing the EU Water Framework Directive and ensure the good condition of water in the river basins intersecting state borders. The project is directly focused on environment, and with that, the protection of surface water quality and in the areas where water quality is below satisfactory, to plan and implement measures for its improvement. The effects of the project and of the increased effort for environmental protection are felt in partner countries. Consistent and strict adherence to the Directive will create preconditions in partner countries for sustainable development and better life in the region, from the perspective of surface water of course. Achievements: The realization of the project represents a major advance in the harmonization of national legislation with European legislation, especially in vodozbirnih cross-border areas. The project has been the foundation for the planned management Surface waters in the border area and defined the scope and possibilities of joint action. The project, there have been 4 studies on the stages of the project and the final study. The latter includes recommendation of the Croatian and Hungarian authorities, the importance of following the EC directive 60 / 2000. The total project is in accordance with the provisions of the investment incentive in regulating cross-border water flows, which is particularly important for Croatia as a candidate country for membership in the European Union.
