PROJECT
FINISHED
The project “A B C all together” was a development project for the Vlachata Primary School of Kefalonia concerning the training of the teachers on ICT and the new teaching approaches. Within the limits of this project, there were two mobilities for job shadowing and teaching by using the CLIL methodology in a spanish school on the island of Lanzarote, two mobilities to participate in a course on ICT (general context) in Malta and three nobilities to participate in a course on ICT (specific educational context) in Dublin. The knowledge and the experience which the teachers gained from these, provided them with the stimulus to pay more attention to their teaching through the use of new technologies, toinvent new educational styles as well as new educational activities, promoting in this way their daily school work. The teachers as well as the students were provided with new and of better quality educational experience through the use of various software which was appropriate for the teaching, the comprehension of the lessons and the development of the students’ creativity.A variety of teaching methods were applied: task based learning, video based learning, debate, problem solving, CLIL, whose results were discussed among the teachers of the school, opinions were exchanged with our European colleagues and their outcome was deemed as satisfactory. The self-confidence of the teachers of the school was boosted and they were able to improve in their profession. The students were also found to be more active in their participation in the school work and they showed more interest in lessons in which new technologies were used.Emphasis was placed on multilingualism through the portfolio of languages as a unique asset-equipment of each student who would be able to monitor their own linguistic improvement in European languages. The intercultural approach of the project benefited the school community in various ways through the additional value of the modern European educational and technological approach of knowledge. The impact of the project was a positive one for the school since it strengthened the parents’ trust towards the work of the teachers, it provided an opportunity to improve the technological equipment of the school, it upgraded the profile of the school and it also acted as the base of any future European collaboration.
