A STEP FORWARD – training for trainers
A STEP FORWARD – training for trainers
Start date: Jun 17, 2014,
End date: Oct 17, 2014
PROJECT
FINISHED
As the role of non-formal learning is becoming increasingly more important in the life-long learning context of every human being (not only in the Programme countries, but also the Eastern Partnership countries), it is important that people who are in charge of non-formal education activities are skilled and well aware on how to design and facilitate not only separate NFL activities, but are able to design, implement and evaluate non-formal education programmes.
Therefore, August 21-30 2014, in Parnu, Estonia “Rääma Noorte Ühing Noorus” will host 10 days training for trainers “A STEP FORWARD”. 30 Participants from 11 different countries will participate in it - Estonia, Moldova, Romania, Georgia, Armenia, Austria, Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Latvia, Turkey.
The aim of this training course is to increase the quality of youth work by gathering people (1) which have already participated in a introductory training on non-formal learning and facilitation, (2) which have already applied their newly gained competences in working with youth during the last year and (3) which have strong motivation to continue professional development and providing them with opportunity to advance their professional competences as facilitators and trainers of non-formal learning.
The objectives and the issues tackled during the training course are based on the needs of participants:
- To provide a space for sharing and reflection on so far experience on facilitating non-formal and informal learning activities and experience of youth work
- To build a common understanding on standarts of quality training programmes based on principles of NFL and innovation and creativity as a value
- To deepen the knowledge about various elements related to being a trainer in youth field (greater awareness about interconnections of youth work&NFL with formal learning field and labour market, group dynamics, conflict management, cooperation in trainers’ team, personal charisma, challenges, etc.)
- To continue developing practical skills of being a facilitator/trainer by designing, implementing and evaluating NFL training sessions
- To develop „learning to learn” competence by using the tools of self-reflection and giving and receiving feedback
- To explore personal style of working with young people and identify the areas for further development as a trainer
- To increase motivation of work in the youth field and help the understanding about the positive power of „youth work” for personal and social development of young people and communities
- To reinforce cooperation with partners from other countries and backgrounds and create a pool of good quality facilitators/trainers
To ensure the training has a real impact on participants, we will make sure that it is learner-centred and based on needs and interests of participants and it includes a wide spectrum of non-formal learning methods and approaches. Considering the different learning styles of people, we will make sure that the methods chosen provide a good balance of opportunities for different people and are as interactive/involving as possible. We will make participants aware that learning can take place both in non-formal as well as informal settings.
The strongest impact of the project will be provided by implemented follow-up activities and better quality youth work that our participants will do after the training in local, regional, national, European and international level.
