A non-profit informal educational organisation, located in Brittany (France) the MJC du Plateau (Maison des Jeunes et de la Culture) funded in 1967 is located in an economically disadvantaged area of St Brieuc with a large population of underpriviledged people (immigrants, drop-outs, people facing prejudices),.The MJC offers language and danse classes to the general public, as a way to foster social mixity, understanding between generations, social inclusion and tolerance, and to prevent social unrest. The MJC also provides educational activities to people in detention in the local prison. In order to promote popular education for all, the MJC entends to focus on 2 main lines of developement encompassing: a pedagogical projet related to the provision of attractive and harmonized language and civilisation classes which will include innovative teaching methods using games and role plays and in due term the european Certification of the teachers with the EUROLTA system, and a closer cooperation between teachers, staff and volunteers which will collaborate to provide a fully integrated, multi-faceted educational "course package" to include language classes, dance classes, cultural presentations, talks, reading sessions, workshops, participative demonstrations on popular heritage, cookery lessons. This package, which will at first be based on the Greek Language and Culture model (with a special attention on the need to comfort the durabilty of Greek language classes at the MJC as there is real request : from 7 learners in 2012, we now have 35 people several of them drive more that an hour to attend the weekly class), will be built on participative 'Peer Learning" and culminate in the BABEL Festival 2016 whose main theme will be "The Hellenic World".This "course package" will subsequently be duplicated for other languages. The second area for development focuses on the european dimension of the MJC and aims at ensuring that the staff, the teachers and the volunteers acquire the various competences to efficiently build a Strategic Partnership on Action Key 2, designed to enhance multilinguism and the employability of adult learners. By capitalizing on the success of individual actions supported by Grundtvig (individual grants, Visit and Exchanges, Assistantship) and on the collective achievements of the European Programme Youth in Action that we successfully conducted with our twinned greek city of Aghia Paraskevi, we will extent the benefits by promoting 47 mobilities to favour cultural diversity and european identity through 6 different training seminars. 3 of these capacity-building educative seminars will be provided by the HELENIC CULTURE CENTRE in Greece, a centre of expertise that we have long identified and known for 4 years through our Developper of Mobility S. Le Moël. To engender a qualitative leap, the HCC will train our staff, teachers and volunteers accordingly. A) A Seminar on Greek Language and Civilisation to upgrade Teachers and Tutors'skills, to ensure the durability of Greek classes and foster a "Peer Learning" educational strategy based on collaborative shared knowledge, whereby empowered volunteers become key links to provide a fully integrated quality"course package" to MJC all learners including drop-outs and prisonners. In order to successfully implement a Strategic Partnership on multilinguism and employability, 3 seminars will focus on specific skills to be acquired by the staff and the volunteers. B) A Seminar to learn innovative foreign language teaching methods based on games (serious games) and the use of high technologies, e-learning and electronic plateforms to answer the need for combined learning systems. Plus information on EUROLTA certification. C) A Seminar on how to acquire intercultural and organisational skills with the aim to organize, implement and evaluate a complete cultural event (based on the greek exemple) and to show the danse teachers how to introduice culture into their classes so that they can promote interdisciplinarity and encourage the learners to learn the language of the country "they dance". D) A crash course in English with linguistic immersion in the UK will be provided by the London School of English. English is essential as an international communication language E) A seminar on Quality management will be provided by IDEC (Pireus, Greece) a structure that we have known since last year (Grundtvig). F) A Seminar on how to build, write, manage, evaluate and coordinate an european project in the Framework of the new ERASMUS+ programme, will be provided by the EOC, European Office of Cyprus. The seminar is set in Cyprus a country that deeply interests us, St Brieuc having signed a Charter of Frienship with Gieroskipou. Cyprus represents also the diversity of the Hellenic culture and language an element that will be part and parcel of our future Strategic Partnership.
