A mobility for a new life
Start date: Aug 1, 2016,
End date: Jul 31, 2018
PROJECT
FINISHED
The project « A mobility for a new life »is the result of a high demand from the pupils of the Vocational Education Department to be able to benefit from a mobility in Europe.Indeed, The High- School Stéphane Hessel, in Epernay, today has two labellised identities :« Industrial and Tertiary vineyard trades high School » as well as « European High School ».However, the pupils of the tertiary sections:Sales, Trade, Management and administration and the industrial section of production line piloting , are those who benefit the least from European initiatives. These four sections also include as high as 70% of the least priviledged students within the establishment and those who choose their study options due to the geographical proximity of the school and not to their real vocation.Furthermore, the heritage of our town has recently been classified as part of the World Heritage of Humanity. A 20% increase in the number of tourists as well as in the production of Champagne is expected. It's therefore the School's duty to allow its students to benefit from new opportunities in order for them to develop their language and professional skills.Previous experiences enable us to predict that 25% of the global number of students will be entitled to mobilities. No student shall be put apart. The pupils will be given the precise , pre-defined criteria. They will be selected upon.Their Teachers Board, covering the whole range of the High-School members will grant this opportunity to the most deserving pupils. The Professional trainig period will take place in Ireland, in Dublin, a city which perfectly fits our needs on the size as well as on the professional characteristics aspect. The International Exchange Center, our long-time partner will work with us in a close relationship to elaborate the profiles and needs of the students, so as to find thanks to interviews the most appropriate work placements. The pupils will do a 5 week- full- time internship. During the 1st week, they will be given refresher courses in english language.A project-team composed of teachers used to European projects has been set up. It dealt with the writing of this folio, then will get the students ready through personalised support classes, and will later go on the spot with the pupils at two different moments : the settling in, and at the end of the period, the assessment. The students will thus have the opportunity to get a job more easily since they will have gained the necessary skills asked for by the Companies of the labour pool, as well as the ability to move around. They will be regarded as models by their school-fellows. They will have further education opportunities made easier. Our Establishment is already providing and will go on doing so with the promotion of European mobilities in the course of academic lectures, via all sorts of media ( blogs, social networks, videos,..) and during teachers-parents meetings.
