A Bridge from Kosovo to a Better Europe
A Bridge from Kosovo to a Better Europe
Start date: Jan 1, 2015,
End date: Jul 31, 2016
PROJECT
FINISHED
The project has been jointly designed by the Sending and Coordinating Organisation, IPSIA, and the Hosting Organisation, SHL-K, and will be primarily implemented in Rahovec/Orahovac, Kosovo.
The general objectives of the project are to develop youth skills in order to support their employability in the labour market and to encourage active participation of young people in their communities as well as on a national and European level, through the promotion of international and intercultural exchanges and volunteering experiences.
The project addresses young people willing to experiment informal learning in an international and multicultural dimension. Two Volunteers will be selected for this project. All kind of discrimination on any basis will be avoided throughout the selection process and the implementation of the project itself. Nevertheless, priority will be given to the participation of young people with fewer opportunities.
The Volunteers will be primarily involved in the activities of the SHL-K Youth Center. These include, among others, the organisation of cultural and sport events for the local youth of all communities, vocational trainings and workshops and the organisation of study visits and summer camps for children. Furthermore the Volunteers will contribute to the planning and implementation of new activities through the establishment of new partnerships, the participation in meetings with partners and local government and directly working on the project proposals design.
The Volunteers will participate in several preparatory activities and trainings, both before their departure and upon their arrival in Kosovo. The project partners' staff will offer continuous support to the Volunteers throughout the whole duration of the project. The Volunteers' role and responsibilities will be discussed and defined through regular meetings and exchanges; an efficient, transparent and constructive working environment will be ensured. The developments in the implementation of the project will be closely monitored and evaluated.
The Volunteers will acquire/improve general competences about living and working in international and intercultural teams and contexts. They will, through the activities of the project, acquire/improve skills such as: events organisation, project proposals development, report writing and children animation. They will also gain a deep knowledge of youth non-formal education methods.
The project's results will disseminated through several instruments, in order to ensure its sustainability. multiplier effect
Thanks to the project's multiplier effect, the produced impact will become visible on several levels.
The Volunteers will see broader employability opportunities and will feel more able to better and more actively participate in society. The involved Organisations will gain a deeper experience in operating in an international and European network , exchanging good practices and improving capacities in planning, implementing and evaluating EU projects.
Consequently the local citizenry will benefit from an empowered and more knowledgeable youth, a deeper integration of minorities and vulnerable groups and a strenghtened awareness of EU processes and projects.
On the national level, the project will produce favourable impacts on youth unemployment and on inter-community relations through an enlarged access to decision-making positions. It will also strenghten the awareness of the European framework and its guiding principles.
Last, on the European and international levels, a more active and conscious youth will participate in the Europan society, allowing for a higher degree of mobility within and beyond the European borders and an increased awareness of the EU enlargement process.
