70 years after - The EU as a model for establishing and keeping peace. An inventory and future prospects.
Start date: May 1, 2015, End date: Jan 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The aim of the youth project was to understand, reflect and work on our common history of the last seventy years. The reason was the end of the Second World War, the developments afterwards and the construction of the European Union. An important aspect was the EU's target to be a model of peacekeeping. The participants should discuss about the past and the current happenings and find connections between. Additionally they should develop and enhance their empathy about different cultures and their ways of living. Different culture and the diversity of humankind can be enriching and valuable experiences. In total 56 people from 9 different EU member states participated in the project. We tried to keep a gender and age balance. There have been 3 workshops during the two weeks of the project. The participants had to decide for one specific workshop. The workshops had been a theatre group, a research group and a culture group. All of those were working with different aims and activities on the same topic. Daily meetings of all groups together and two public events provided that all of the participants can gain the same knowledge and the methods used.
