The 56.KFF will be held from 29th May to 5th June 2016. It is one of the oldest European film event presenting documentary, animated and short fiction films. Its main goal is dissemination of artistic cinema, in our case especially documentary, animated and short fiction films, among the wide audience. The organisers care about high artistic level of the programme and try to discover new films which are going to start its international career soon. The festival’s identification is selection of various films from different part of the world, mostly European ones, presenting intriguing topics and diverse genres. It’s a gallery of original trends and the place for fascinating young talents debuting in film as well as outstanding masters who present their lifetime achievement.The 56th edition will consist of 3 international and 1 national competition and 11 cycles in a non-competitive section. Among them there are cycles dedicated only to European cinema: Somewhere in Europe, Focus on Sweden, Short Matters!, Students Etudes Night, Kids&Youth Fest. We expect to screen about 200 European films representing all EU countries. It will be more than 80% of all presented films. We hope to guest around 60-80 filmmakers from Europe. The Industry Zone directed towards film professionals (distributors, sales agents, festival, broadcasters) will be integral part of the festival. We expect a small increase of audience: in 2016 it shall reach 25000 viewers. Except of regular film screenings the festival will offer diverse satellite events, like music concerts, photo exhibitions, oper-air screenings, KFF_VOD and others. The new actions implemented in 2016 will be connected with education and with audience building. The festival is accredited by FIAPF, is one of the short film qualifying festivals of AMPAS, nominates short film and recommends documentaries to the European Film Award in both categories.
