The source of the Houille river is on the la Croix Scaille Plateau in Belgium, on the territory of the Gedinnemunicipality, and runs into the Meuse in Givet (France). This river is the cause of recurrent floods in Belgiumand France. A few localised measures have already been adopted to address the problem, without a globalvision though and without conducting an analysis of the direct and indirect impact on the cross-borderbasin.The aim of the P2IH project is a global cross-border study for the entire Houille water catchment area. This study – with no borders to take into account – helps improve the knowledge on the hydraulic and hydrologicalfunctioning of the river. The ultimate goal of the project is to make improvements that work for both countries. To achieve this, a collective and concerted cross-border plan for flood related risk prevention is defined and an exhaustive state of affairs of the area is established.
