The Academic Information Centre as the National Coordination Point for EQF will coordinate all the activities in Latvia as stated in The Recommendation of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 April 2008 on the establishment of the European Qualifications Framework for lifelong learning. The Latvian NCP will continue its cooperation with the national authorities and stakeholders in the further development of the Latvian Qualifications Framework (LQF) to support the implementation of learning outcomes based approach to qualifications referenced to the LQF. The Latvian NCP will continue to support national authorities in the elaboration of legal regulations concerning the LQF.The Latvian NCP will continue its cooperation with the national authorities to facilitate the inclusion of reference to the appropriate EQF level on qualification certificates, diplomas and Europass documents issued by the competent authorities. In higher education sector the reference is compulsory since 2013, in vocational education sector – this will be obligation by 2017. The Latvian NCP will continue raising awareness of individuals and institutions on the issues related to the EQF and LQF by disseminating informative materials. The Latvian NCP will continue ensuring an access to information and guidance to stakeholders on how national qualifications are related to the EQF through the LQF. The Latvian NCP will work on strengthening the coordination and synergies with other European transparency tools and will promote collaboration within the network of NCPs for EQF, as well as with other European institutions and networks, e.g. national correspondents to the QF-EHEA. The Latvian NCP will closely collaborate with the Cedefop ReferNet Latvia, Europass Latvia, Latvian ENIC/NARIC, ECVET national expert team, EQAVET Latvia and services responsible for validating competences acquired outside formal education by exchanging experiences and participating in various events.
