EVS for Empowerment & Employment

Youth Centre Villa Elba coordinates an EVS project "EVS for Empowerment & Employment. This project hosts 29 volunteers from different European countries.This project aims to bring multiculturalism into the lives of children and youngsters with the help of international volunteers. In the countryside and in small towns there is not many possibilites to get international contacts, so the volunteer help local people to get these experiences in their own environment, and that way multiculturalism can be a natural part of the everyday life of children and young people.During the project volunteers work with children and young people in youth houses and -centres, schools, riding stables of young , Kokkotyö Foundation and Tuomaskallio home.Work activities where volunteers are in constant contact with the local people, support a natural way of intercultural learning and communication. Volunteers are active members of the working community and are encouraged to promote their own culture and their own ideas. Volunteers live and work under the same conditions as the locals and get a good picture so-Finnish daily life and culture.The project is answers for the Erasmus + program priorities as we support the employment opportunities of young people by providing an opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills and new learning. Through volunteering the participants gets new perspectives and opportunities to build their own future.
