PROJECT
FINISHED
As an adult education institution our task is to train teachers working with all age groups, provide them with all the necessary professional tools for quality work, prepare curricula and examination systems. The situation in the market ( world) requires from the teachers the application of methodological, didactical and technological innovations making the learners better prepared for the challenges of their professional life. We have noticed that our staff find it difficult to keep the pace with the technological progress in the field the education.
The aim of our project is to enable a team of five staff members responsible for the implementation of innovations in our institution to take part in a series of structured courses. The experience gained by being trained by specialists abroad and the improved professional skills will give them the competences and increased capacity to introduce changes in terms of modernization and international opening within our organisation. One of our preferences is to install the Moodle software in our server and develop the necessary teaching materials to create fully functional on-line courses and also support courses for complementing our in-class ones.
The selected staff members represent various branches of our institution. They are qualified professionals, however belonging to the generation which feels the pressure of public demand on application of fast-spreading IT tools in the modern classroom.
The mobility activities form a coherent training program covering the main areas of our interest in innovations in the field of adult education.
Activity 1 - Trento, Italy, 25-29 August 2014: training session on the application of innovative IT tools in adult education;
Activity 2 - Poznan, Poland, 22-26 September 2014: training session on on-line and blended teaching methodology;
Activity 3 - Modra-Harmonia, Slovakia, 10-14 November 2014: training with workshop on modernisation of curriculum and assessment systems.
Period of introduction of innovations in the home institution: trainees will start to work on the modernization of our curriculum, training system and will design international IT-tools for improving teacher education.
Activity 4 - Budapest, Hungary, March 2015: training session on strategies for international cooperation with the opportunity to consult with specialists on creating a network of experts in the field of adult education.
Period of application: implementation of the modernized curriculum, ICT-based training and examination system which will mean increased quality and attractive offers of our institution.
In the first place, we expect the participants of the training sessions to acquire all the necessary knowledge and skills needed to introduce the innovations to our teacher training system. Through the series of lectures and workshops they are supposed to get to know the results of the most recent research in the field of didactics and the most important IT tools applicable in the adult education. We strive to widen the training offer of the Centre by adding the on-line courses choosing the most suitable tools. Furthermore, we feel the need to refresh the methodology used in our courses. To make them more effective, we would like to introduce blended learning, which requires the application of various IT tools. Additionally, through exchange of experience with other course participants we hope to add the international dimension to our curriculum and examination system.
The innovations introduced in our language centre will belong to the leading educational institutions in our district. Our courses are already frequented by trainees not only from the region but from all Germany, often even from abroad. We are sure that after the implementation of the innovations our Centre can offer far more effective teaching programs attracting a larger group of learners. The on-line courses will be easier to access for the trainees living in distant places in Germany and abroad.
Through the constant accessibility of the learning materials on the moodle platform, the learners will be able to design their own learning process, get individual tution and all the support they need. The revision of the curriculum and the examination system following the international standards will make our courses more attractive and serve the needs of the course participants.
We hope that the modernization undertaken in our Centre will be an example of good practice and will inspire other institutions to introduce similar changes. Of course our experienced staff will be ready to consult and offer assistance to the interested organizations.
